NOMOS' debut at Watches and Wonders 2024 landed with a colorful splash: 31 pastel shades, joyously rendered onto the Bauhaus-infused Tangente model. For our second collaboration with NOMOS, we're bringing our favorite colorway from this year's release — the vibrant pink 'Chili' — to the brand's most complicated offering, the Zürich World Time.

Though not strictly a world timer, the 'Sambal' makes tracking 24 time zones effortless. At 3 o'clock, a 24-hour disk displays your home time, while the travel time is set via the pusher at 2 o'clock, which activates the city disk with satisfying haptics. Most of the Revolution family calls Singapore home, so it naturally occupies a spot on the city disk in a lighter shade of ruby to represent GMT+8. The multi-stepped dial arranges the outer minute track, city disk, home time display, and sub-seconds dial on different planes, creating a wonderfully three-dimensional feel while preserving the 10.9mm slimness.

Powering the 'Sambal' is the automatic calibre DUW 5201, produced in-house at the brand's Glashütte factory and featuring their proprietary escapement, the revolutionary Swing System. It showcases the hallmarks of German watchmaking fans have come to love and expect from NOMOS — a Glashütte three-quarter plate decorated with Glashütte ribbing and NOMOS perlage, plus a ratchet and duplex wheel finished with a striking Glashütte sunburst. When fully wound, it provides a 42-hour power reserve. Achieving this level of in-house craftsmanship at this price point is nearly unheard of.

Fittingly, the 'Sambal' is delivered on a summer-ready woven fabric strap designed to withstand tropical humidity—or spice-related food adventures—wherever your travels may take you. This limited edition of 50 pieces marks one of Revolution's final collaborative releases for the year, arriving just in time for the festive holidays.

TASTY TWIST

If you’ve been to Singapore, you’ll know that this is the land of hot weather and spicy food. So, we’re naming our edition ‘Sambal’, which is a Southeast Asian chilli paste that pairs with local food.

EASY PEASY

Here's how you operate the world time function on the Zurich. First, set the city disc using the pusher until your home city, or the city that represents your time zone, is positioned at 12 o’clock. Next, pull the crown out and set the 24-hour disc to the correct time—this now establishes your home time. A clear arrow marker at 3 o’clock points to it, accompanied by a “home” icon on the frosted inner dial. After that, set the hour hand on the dial to the correct position using the recessed pusher at 8 o’clock. While this may seem like an extra step, it sets up a delightful feature: once configured, a single press of the pusher advances the city disc to a new time zone at 12 o’clock, and the hands automatically adjust to display the correct local time. So, when you arrive in a new city, updating to the local time takes just a few presses of the button at 2 o’clock.
