Our third collaboration with Zenith brings forth the brand’s lightest chronograph ever produced. The iconic tonneau-shaped A3818, affectionally known as the 'Cover Girl' after starring on Manfred Rossler's book, has been completely reworked high-modulus forged carbon fiber. 

The case, the dial, the pushers, the crown, are all bare carbon and the way the material is laid-up creates these fantastic nuances between gray, white and black fibers. The only case component that isn't carbon fibre is a thin movement container, that is made of PVD-treated grade 5 titanium to ensure the watch’s 50 meters of water resistance that’s key for most sporting activities. Since each part is machined from a block of high-modulus carbon, the graining on each watch is unique. 

Weighing a mere 55 gram on the carbon fiber Velcro strap, you genuinely forget you have it on until you look down on your wrist. It’s a featherweight vessel for the single most storied and iconic automatic chronograph caliber in all of Swiss watchmaking — the legendary Zenith El Primero. It was the very first Swiss integrated automatic sports watch movement offered to the public. It features a column wheel for its laterally coupled clutch and, even in the context of today, is groundbreaking for its superfast 5 Hz vibrational speed that allows the reading of 1/10th of a second.

In the dark, the Cover Girl Carbon is menacing. Super-LumiNova has been applied on every marker on the dial and hands, including the integrated tachymeter and pulsometer scale, vintage-inspired 'shark tooth' racing scale and subdial markings.

To celebrate the launch of Revolution Arabia, the newest addition to our international roster with content published in Arabic, we're releasing a highly limited version with Hindu Arabic numerals at 12 o'clock and on the date wheel. At 37mm by 12.5mm, the Cover Girl Carbon combines vintage charm with the modern, high-performance material. The Cover Girl Carbon is offered on a carbon fiber-effect Velcro strap, with an additional black calfskin strap embossed with the 'ladder effect'.

Delivery will commence end February.

STRONGER

There is no performance material with a higher strength-to-weight ratio than carbon fiber. If you compare strength using the same sample size of steel, titanium and carbon, the carbon piece would be multiple times stronger. That’s the reason carbon fiber is used so ubiquitously in all performance sports today. From the hull, mast and even the sails of America’s Cup superyachts, to every Formula 1 car on the starting grid, to every bicycle racing in the Tour de France. Our watch is so strong because it’s made entirely from high-modulus forged carbon fiber, which is CNC-machined to create each individual part. That means the case, the dial, the pushers and the crown are all milled from blocks of solid carbon. Only the caseback and the movement ring are made in blacked-out grade 5 titanium to ensure water resistance.

LIGHTER

This is the lightest Zenith El Primero chronograph that has ever been produced. With its carbon Velcro strap, it weighs just 55 grams. To place this in context, our steel Cover Girl Revival from 2020 weighed 110.6 grams, and our grade 5 titanium Cover Girl Airweight from 2022 weighs 78.2 grams. Even when fixed with our carbon fiber ladder-style bracelet, the new Cover Girl Carbon weighs just 59 grams. Because of its incredible light weight, strapping the watch on genuinely feels like you are wearing nothing at all on your wrist.

FASTER

A word of warning: As you wear the Cover Girl Carbon, your mind may start to play tricks on you. Because the watch is so light and so comfortable, thanks to the surface smoothness of the carbon case, you may forget whether you have worn it out at all until you look at your wrist. And that’s when you will realize you have the most powerful horological performance tool there is — a chronograph ready to time any event you want. The El Primero movement that powers this watch is not any chronograph, but the most pedigreed automatic chronograph movement of all time. The El Primero was not only the first Swiss automatic integrated chronograph movement but also the fastest! For a very long time, it was the only chronograph caliber that beat at 36,000 vibrations per hour, otherwise known as 5 Hz, making it accurate to 1/10th of a second.

ALMOST INDESTRUCTIBLE

Carbon is far more corrosion resistant than high performance metal alloys of magnesium, aluminum and titanium, and features 10 to 12 times better shock dissipation. This means that it can last indefinitely and protect the movement inside the case better. It is also smooth to the touch so that even while “torture testing” the Cover Girl Carbon, there was never a moment when the crown or pusher left even the slightest mark on the wearers' hand. As such, this watch is simply effortless to wear. Just as importantly, because of its stunning matte texture combined with impressive surface hardness, even after hard use, there is not the slightest sign of a scratch; the surface of the watch remains in pristine condition.
